Most of the nation’s colleges and universities now utilize the centralized process for selecting candidates for ASB elections. The first step is for the campus to establish its priorities – what departments and programs should focus on the following year’s evaluation of success. This usually includes academic and financial resources, workforce development, enrollment, student support services, and student health and wellness. Once a list of prioritized departments has been established, the next step is to select candidates from this list for each department or program.
One way to improve the asb elections process is to encourage more candidates to run for seats. If there are not enough candidates to fill every vacancy, then the selection procedures can be restructured to have more candidates for each vacant position. This means that there will be more than one person elected for each vacant spot. The voting system will also allow for more candidates to be nominated than in previous years.
Another area of possible improvement is to create a clear and concise role description for each position. For example, the ASB vice president should be the president’s top advisor, secretary, treasurer, and caterer. Having a clear description of each role so that future ASB presidents and chancellors will be able to easily identify their responsibilities and abilities makes for a more efficient administration.
One potential area of improvement is to have the current list of officers for each department available before the elections. By having this list, it can be easier for people to make changes when necessary. Having a list also makes it easier to track the board’s performance in past and present elections. Additionally, the list may include the qualifications of the vice president and treasurer. Past and present vice presidential candidates will likely appear on the Board of Directors. These individuals could also become board members once they have served their terms and finished serving on the board.
Implementing the use of ASB and Class Office Elections will benefit not only the students but the teachers and administrators of your school district. Not only will the new members of the ASB perform better than the incumbent officers, but they will have a greater incentive to recruit other students when they see that other ASB students are being appointed to the board. Additionally, you will have a more diverse student body when the ASB and Class President-elect those individuals who have graduated from their ASB classes.
