If you could design your ideal lifestyle, how would it look like? Would you still be in the office chasing promotions? Would you prefer freedom and solitude of the wilderness? Each person has their own goals and dreams. If yours is to go on as many hiking adventures as possible, then go ahead and do that. Of course, you would have to figure out ways to make this sustainable so you don’t eventually have to go back to the cubicle. Below are some of the ways that others have made this work:
Write for Adventure or Travel Magazines
If you have a gift or words or an eye for images, then you might work for adventure or travel magazines as a content contributor. You can actually make money from your hikes by writing about these. If you can make the story unique and interesting, then you are likely to catch the attention of editors and build your own brand. Of course, you could also set up your own blog, social media accounts, or podcast and try to make money from there. Nurture your own community and help out others who would like to do what you are doing.
Develop Passive Income Sources
Another way to make such a lifestyle hiking adventures is to develop several passive income sources that can continue to make money for you while you are out and about. The initial setup can be intensive but things are smooth-sailing once the systems are in place. For example, some people save up to purchase rental properties. Others do index investing or affiliate marketing.
Work Remotely as a Freelancer
This is easier than ever with changing attitudes regarding remote work. Employers used to frown upon working from home until everybody was forced to do it due to the pandemic. Now most white collar workers can perform their tasks from anywhere as long as they have an Internet connection. You can have even more freedom if you shift to freelancing as you can set your hours, choose the projects you like, and negotiate flexible deadlines.
Build an Online Business
You might be able to sell physical items online during your free time. Collect orders through your online shop and ship out the orders after you come back from your hikes. You might not even need to manually intervene that much if you are selling digital products such as ebooks, art prints, shirt designs, and so on. There are systems that can take care of those automatically.
