The island has several national parks and nature reserves, and many areas are protected. Sea turtles live on the beaches and islands, and if you visit in the months of August or September, it is possible to see humpback whales near the coast.
Beach Vacations in Madagascar
Madagascar has great beaches, and a relaxing beach vacation can be combined with trips wildlife vacations. There are beautiful coral reefs that are excellent for snorkeling and diving. The most famous beach resort area is Nosy Be, located on the northwest side of the main island. There are also stunning small islands and islets around Nosy Be that you can visit on a boat trip.
The Best Time for Madagascar Tourism
The busiest time for Madagascar tourism is between June and September when the weather is usually the most pleasant. The island has a humid, hot tropical weather around the year, but the months from May to September are slightly cooler. It is possible to visit Madagascar during the hot season from October to April, too, when there are fewer visitors except for the busy weeks around Christmas and New Year. The wet season lasts from December to March.
