The Agency For Persons With Disabilities

The agency for persons with disabilities assists people with disabilities by providing them with the assistance they need to find employment. The Agency for Persons with Disabilities also includes education and representation to people interested in a career with companies that have employment opportunities for people with disabilities. The mission of the agency is to empower persons with disabilities to participate equally. If you need employment or would like to work with an organization that would benefit from hiring someone with a disability, you should contact an agency for the disabled for more information.

There are Two central bodies that make up the Agency for Persons with Trauma or Disabilities. One is the Commission on Employment and Training. The Commission develops training programs that make the workplace suitable for persons with developmental disabilities. Commission staff members educate people interested in a career with the Commission on the employment opportunities available for those who have developmental limitations. The Commission also develops State regulations that provide guidelines for private providers of assisted living that must comply with federal laws regarding employment and training. Private healthcare providers are held to national standards for hiring and promoting their employees and are also held to the same employment and training regulations as other employers.

The other body that makes up the Commission on Disability Employment is the Florida chapter of the Adaptive Technology Education & Rehabilitation Organization (ATERA). The purpose is to train persons with developmental disabilities on employment-related services. Florida is the second state in the U.S. to develop and implement an agency for persons with disabilities.

People with developmental disabilities can find employment in the Florida market if they apply to the Florida Office of Vocational and Adult Education. The Agency for Persons with Disabilities also serves the general public through Florida schools. According to the OTA, Floridians serve special education classes, behavioral health programs, ESL/EFL programs, and gifted children. They also provide respite from disabilities and develop specialized instruction plans for students with developmental disabilities. Florida is not the only state to offer employment for persons with developmental disabilities. The mission of the Florida Office of Vocational and Adult Education is to assist persons with developmental disabilities in attaining self-sufficiency. To be able to do this, the agency offers courses that prepare Floridians and paralegals to work in various settings. The Florida OTA also works to provide employment in the construction field and at schools.
