One of the known triggers is blue light. This is part of the natural spectrum that is composed of high energy waves. The light can make us feel more alert and focused during the day, but overexposure can also make us grow tired after a while. Repeated exposure can result in painful eyes and headaches. Sources include computer and phones screens. Since these are unavoidable tools in our modern life, we simply have to finds ways to use them without suffering from overexposure. Use blue light blocking glasses that have a top coat capable of filtering out the unwanted elements.
Allow Yourself Periodic Rest
There is a tendency for us to keeping working the whole day without even standing from out desk. When we get into the flow, we ride on it until we finish our tasks. Sometimes we are just t engrossed in what we’re reading, watching, playing, or doing to care about anything else, even our growling tummies or our tired eyes. Yet we need to take care of ourselves in order to keep working. We need to make our habits sustainable and they will not be so if we abuse ourselves. There should be periodic rest throughout our work days. Every hour or so, give yourself a few minutes to stand up, stretch, close your eyes, or look out a window.
Resolve Issues as Soon as Possible
If you do notice something wrong with your eyes, then do not ignore it. Observe whether it is resolving itself with no intervention for a few days or getting worse with time. If it is the latter, then go to a doctor to have it checked and diagnosed. Try not to self-medicate as you might end up making things worse. It is important to resolve any issue as soon as possible so that they do not become a permanent disability.
