UHF radio is an abbreviation for ultra-high frequency radio (also written as ultra-high frequency or ultra-high-frequency), which refers to a group of radio frequencies in the electromagnetic spectrum—specifically: 300 megahertz (MHz) to 3 gigahertz (GHz).
UHF radio has several uses. It is used for FM and television broadcast transmission, cordless phones and cell phones, walkie-talkies and baby monitors, garage door openers, keyless car locks, and remote-controlled toys. When installing a UHF, the user must know their country’s limitations for specific frequencies.
A common reason why people choose to install a UHF radio is that they enjoy listening to music on their car stereo systems and want an inexpensive way to add in more songs than what they receive from AM or FM radio stations alone. UHF Radio Installation – How to Install?

- Locate a good spot in your car to mount the radio. It is best to find a place near the power outlet and does not block your view while driving.
- Mount the UHF radio using the screws or bolts that come with it. Be sure to use the right size screws or bolts for your car’s dashboard.
- Plug in the power cord to an available power outlet and plug in the antenna cable to the antenna jack on the back of the radio.
- Turn on the UHF radio and ensure that the sound and reception are okay. If not, you may need to adjust the UHF antenna or consult a car electronics technician for help.
- Once you have found a good spot for mounting the unit, slide it into place under your dashboard or windshield.
