What Should Be Included In A Childcare Property Report?

Parents who receive a Childcare License for their business should expect to complete a Childcare Property Report. This is usually only required if you rent and/or would like to appeal your current property designation.

This report is needed to show how your property’s restrictions and regulations do (or don’t) meet the requirements for a Childcare License. You can file this report online or print it out and mail/email the completed form.

Important details to include in a childcare property report include the following:

  1. Legal description of the property
  2. Legal owner of the property and their contact info (use the mailing address that you would like us to use to send licensing materials if it differs from what we already have on file)
  3. Current zoning designation
  4. How your business will meet the Public Health and Safety requirements set out by Childcare Requirements
  5. A list of ALL other childcare providers operating in your neighborhood exterior dimensions. If you don’t have any measurements now, make sure to take them before starting any renovations or expansion work. You should also include room layouts with a floor plan that notes active play spaces and primary sleeping/napping areas where children will be present during hours of operation for your business.
  6. Flooring materials used throughout the residence — this is important because different types of flooring can lead to different hazards or nearby areas (i.e., daycares, preschools, nannies). If you know any home-based childcare providers who work near your residence, include them as well.
  7. A mapping program that includes a bird’s eye view option. If you can’t use a mapping program to map out your business, draw a diagram instead.
  8. Measurements of ALL rooms in residence, including those that will be used for childcare purposes (including restrooms and storage areas). Include both inside dimensions as well as exterior dimensions. If your residence is an apartment, include measurements for any outdoor spaces you plan to use.
  9. Flooring materials used throughout the residence are important because different types of flooring can lead to different hazards or nearby areas (i.e., daycares, preschools, nannies). If you know any home-based childcare providers who work near your residence, include them as well.
  10. A list of all regulations and restrictions apply to the Childcare Business being performed on-site. It is also required that you have a copy of these regulations before submitting this report.
