Apart from these measures, there are some lifestyle changes that pregnant women can make to prevent birth defects. Eating a healthy diet, getting enough rest, and exercising moderately are all beneficial to both mother and baby. Avoiding high-risk activities, such as contact sports and extreme temperatures, can also reduce the chance of complications.

Birth defects are serious health conditions that can affect the lives of babies and parents alike. Although some of these defects are unavoidable, many can be prevented by taking simple measures.
